I'm new to the forums. I started Nutrisystem on March 18, 2010. I'm doing very well, but for some reason that I can't put my finger on, I can't seem to control myself. When I start doing well, I sabotage myself...I sit with a bag of cookies, or chocolate, or whatever, and then I have to fight that same two pounds again....over and over and over again..

It usually happens when I'm alone and I get so angry with myself when I'm done..

I'm not sure why I do it, or how to stop it....I hope there are others out there that have been through this and beat it...if so, please help me through!.

Thanks so much..

Your question was: Why can't I control my temptations during Nutrisystem?.

Do you keep these things in your house? If you do, get rid of them. I simply don't want to have things like that around me. They're not part of the Nutrisystem plan either, so have you committed to changing your lifestyle so that you can get to goal and then stay there? It takes a total and complete commitment...not that you'll always be perfect...but anything less in your mind just will not get you where you want to be.

And find good substitutes for your favorite foods. I love carrot cake, and whereas the Nutrisystem carrot cakes are not as good as what I was eating, they're a darn good subsitute. And I figure that eventually I'll lose my taste for the very fatty and sugary "real" thing. I know for a fact that you do lose your taste for certain foods when you stay away from them...not just a week or two, but you do change your tastes. Make sure you don't just try to "give up" the cookies and chocolate but REPLACE them with Nutrisystem items or other more healthy versions..

You are the CEO of your own company, and any and all decisions you make give you the results you get...

THank you for the advice. I have not done the Mental Makeover...its on my list...guess it just moved to the top of my list. As for keeping the stuff in the house, I'm the only one with a weight problem and I'm the only one on Nutrisystem and apparently I'm the only one eating these stupid cookies....guess they go in the garbage...tonight!.

Thanks again..

I had to laugh, I do this too. I purchase my favorites thinking that DH and DS will eat them, then wait to see if they will disappear. Today I threw an entire container of Butter Pecan ice cream in the trash container outside. Not inside, it would call to me like the witch in the Wizard of Oz, "I'm melting, I'm melting!" The heat index is 95, it should be a quick demise. Have a great day...

I think you have to sit down and decide both, how bad you want this, and what you are afraid of? You have to want to be healthy more than you want to eat cookies or whatever it is that you keep eating. This will help keep you from going off plan. Second, figure out what you're afraid of. This will help you learn why you sabotage yourself so that you can stop. Sometimes we don't feel we're worth it, or we're afraid to be thin and healthy so we get close and then eat 50 bags of cookies, there are a ton of reasons why you could sabotage yourself. Once you figure it out, you can fix it..

Excuses or's one or the other, but not both!..

I always have lots of fruit on hand. If I get a sweet tooth and just can't stand it I have some fruit, But I would rather have that than cookies, cake, etc...

Insufficient salad intake. Double the amount of salad you eat. Even if you don't want it. It will fill you and keep the cheats at bay...
