First off, What is your opinion of Medifast? Looking forward for any response. Another quick question... Okay, so I'm not being terribly ladylike in creating this thread, but I have got to know!!.

Today was my first day on Medifast. All went pretty much as one would expect (dealing with the transition). However, shortly after my LG, I had some of the absolute worst-smelling gas I have ever experienced! It was actually kind of alarming. It did not smell organic, but rather metallic/chemically. I have honestly never smelled that particular smell from *anywhere*, ever!.

So. My question - am I just going to have to get used to this new development? I see people talking about "medifarts" so perhaps this is normal? Or would it maybe be a reaction to a specific food I had today, and not to the program in general?.

For reference, today I ate a chocolate-mint bar, a vanilla pudding, a chili, a dutch chocolate shake, and a bag of pretzels (in addition to my LG of tuna and asparagus)..

Anyone have thoughts/advice?..

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the right answer. I'll do some research and get back to you if I got an good answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably can help you..

The bars tend to give me major gas!!! I stay away from the bars. And I love them...

Lmao! Sorry, this may not be that funny to some, but it is to me.. DH was just commenting the other day about his "medigas" but I didnt pay much attention to it, I thought he was just exaggerating. Ha! Evidentally not.. Haha. I have not experienced this though, so I cant say much about it. Aside from I feel your partial pain, as I have to put up with it without warning...

LOL. BF has been complaining about the same thing. I, too, have this "problem" occasionally but I figure that it's a small price to pay for the ultimate goal...

LOL. DH eats only bars and RTD shakes. He loves the chocolate mint bar, which I believe is a major contributor to his gas. And, in typical guy fashion, he is less than discreet when he enhances the air around him..

I have not had too much of a problem, but I could be in trouble if I ate chili every day and then had a chocolate mint crunch bar..

Isn't it time to open the windows?..

Let's just say that I can "outsmell" the two men in my family right now. They both think I'm gross, LOL! But hey - when I want to be alone, all I have to do is fart, hehe.....

Initially, I was quite musical. LOL I started taking a daily probiotic and I'm now much fresher to hang out with...

"enhancing the air" - LOL I love it!.

Well, at least I know I'm not alone. The smell was just so alarming - My brain refused to acknowledge that THAT smell came out of MY body (and I am typically pretty okay with owning up to my bodily by-products). Weird..

I'll try skipping a bar today and see if that changes things... If not, perhaps this is just what I have to deal with (ok, what the fiance has to deal with)... Probiotics sound like a good idea, too...

When I do get gas nowadays, it is HELLISH. I was at work yesterday, without my trusty gas x and wanted to cry it was so bad. I was on my way out the door and my coworker decides to have a 20 minute conversation regarding new changes in medicare. The whole time I'm to hold myself together ready to fall on the ground farting my brains out..

Get gas x. Try not to drink through straws. Chew less gum if possible. Avoid broccoli if you're out. I rarely eat bars, but they affect most people...

Laughing so hard right now.....why am I a 12-year-old when it comes to a topic about farts???!!!.

Agree with getting the Gas-X. I've been on this plan for months now, and I do still have problems from time to time. For 2 weeks when starting the plan, I was in my bathroom more than I was out of my bathroom. I called my healthcoach and told her this plan was nuts. More was going out than going in, LOL!!! I was convinced it was the soy crisps but I order them all the time and have no problems with them now..

I don't know that it helps but when I take Gas-X, I sip Diet GingerAle. Not the whole can, but GingerAle just calms my stomach and eases me a bit, so you might look at that too. Check the labels though on the cans and make sure they are okay on plan...

The Smores bars do that to me. I have to confess, I've been giggling all the way through this post. Especially about the 20 min. conversation with a co-worker...been there done that! lol! Good luck!..

Haha, soooOOOO funny! I mean, in an "I'm sorry your farting" kind of way.

Yes, I can clear a room with the best of them. I won't give up the bars!!.

Probiotics helped me, too. Less noise and stink!.

Hehe..

OMG! ROFLMAO! Too funny, but yes, I too have the clear the room kind of days!.

I can out smell my horse !!!!!..
