Is there any other way to go then these convenient steamed bags??? Heck no! I usually make a bag of these (what are they, the Birds Eye Steam Fresh). I buy 6 bags a week and make 1 bag and split it between 2 dinner meals. I eat half a bag of veggies. Typically, the plan calls for 1/2 cup of 2 veggies. I just measure out 1+ (the little bit of extra veggies doesn't kill you) cup of the mix. The only ones that I stay away from are the ones with the dressings/sauce and the ones with the corn/peas (carbs) mixture. Does this help?..
I do the same thing! Plus I buy the veggies that are 4 individual servings in a pack..just nuke for 2 minutes and BINGO!..
Are the ones with carrots in them okay? I read where carrots should be limited on salads...??..
Yes, carrots are okay - I usually eat the mix with carrots, cauli, and broccoli. Carrots do have more calories than the unlimited veggies that are listed for salads, which is why you'll be cautioned on adding them like mad to your salad. BUT, when it calls for your evening veggie, carrots are a "go."..
My wife and I are both on NS, so one of these a day at dinner is perfect for us...
I just got home from grocery shopping and picked up 6 bags of the Birds Eye Steam fresh veggies...so convenient!! I get the broccoli & cauliflower mix but today saw green beans and picked that up as well..
What a great Idea!! I never thought of the frozen veggies. I'm on my first week and haven't figured things out yet, so far I've been eating the sames add ins (since Saturday) and it's getting very boring!!.

I hope what I just ate isn't illegal!!! I have a friend who did wonderful on NS. I ran into her at Wal-Mart when I went "add in" food shopping. I asked her about vegetables because I have never been a huge fan. She showed me these Green Giant ones that she said she ate every day. There are 2 servings per box, so you eat the whole box. Very Easy.
I forget what the calories/fat was.
In addition, I found a really good one that is sugar snap peas, red bell peppers, and has a little potato. There is a light seasoned sauce. I just hope the little bit of potato wasn't a HUGE no-no. I would say that the amount of potato added up to maybe 1 - 1 1/2 small red potatoes (golf ball size?) This had (total, not per serving) 1g fat, 100 cal..
PLEASE tell me this one is ok, as I miss potatoes terribly! I ate this for the first time tonight and it was awesome. Like I said, a little bit of potato, and VERY filling...
IMO, that extra 50-70 cals you are eating is not going to kill you. Not sure about eating the cheese sauce though...
Vegetable Serving = 5 g. carbohydrates, 2 g. protein, 25 calories.
1 Fat Serving = 5 g. fat, 45 calories.
I'd say the one with potatoes is probably way over in carbs but check the box. Check out the stats on the broccoli with cheese and see if it meets the stats for fat. Is it over 5 grams of fat?..
Let's just say the one with potatoes has 22g (GASP) carbs. I still have one left, but maybe i'll pick out the potatoes.....

I made a ton of mistakes when I started. You could finish them or pick out a few potatoes but I probably wouldn't buy them again..
