That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some research and get back to you if I bump into an answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could help you..

First there was medifast.... and people managed to lose wt but some had difficulties staying on the program and many regained their weight....

Then along came Take Shape for Life which was co founded by Dr Anderson. The idea was how do we get people to manage to lose the weight AND keep it off???.

TSFL came up with health coaches, and the Habit's of Health program.....

You still buy your medifast food, but thru the health coaches co branded web site, and then the coach helps you with your eating plan and is a cheerleader, and a poke to help keep you going etc.....

The coach also is the one who helps you to work thru the Habits of Health which is what appears to make the large difference between losing wt and keeping it off......

TSFL pays the coach, to help you out.....

So, you can pay for medifast, or you can pay via the TSFL co branded site that the coach has. It will be the same cost either way.....

But with the TSFL site, you can also have FREE coaching.....

So really, the program cost is less thru TSFL because you get more product for your buck......

I wasn't sure I wanted a coach when I started but a friend recommended her dr who is a coach and I am so glad I have him as a resource. He is intelligent, concerned and very encouraging. I have access to him any time and I have found him a great source of information and motivation. Since there's no additional cost, it can't hurt to give it a try. If you find a good coach, it might make the journey a bit easier. I think he will be particularly helpful when the time comes to maintain since I have a lot of misgivings about that (though it is quite a way in the future for me). But, from what I hear, the coaches run the gamut from very good to very bad so don't feel bad if you have to "test drive" more than one to find one who meets your needs...

Kristen - There are coaches out there that are wonderful and will give you accurate program information and fantastic support. Unfortunately, there are just as many, if not more, that don't care about anything but the money they make off of their client's orders and could care less about their Clients. Many can't even answer basic simple questions about the program. If you need a coach, I strongly suggest you do NOT request one from the TSFL page. It's a crap shoot on whether you will get a good one or not. I would suggest reading posts on these forums, see the kind of advice that the HC's give to others, and check their tickers to see if they have had success on MF.

I can suggest some really good one's. If you are interested, send me a PM..

That being said, the best support I've ever gotten is from the teams that I've belonged to. They are a great source of information and support. There is a team for every person out there. Check out the Clubhouse forum and lurk around some of the great teams out there....

My health coach is awesome. So is this site. I have learned much and gotten a lot of support from both..

The SupportInMotion site from Take Shape for Life is also great...
