My first question is Need some info regarding Medifast~? Thanks in advance for any answer. Another question I got... Need some encouragement, feeling really low/rundown/starving!!!!! I did loose 3lbs this week very happy with that, a total of 15lbs gone since I started on the 16th of March. I am getting frustrated....very frustrated, to the point I want to just sit and cry because I feel so hungry. what can I do to help. PLEASE HELP!!!!!..

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer to your question. I'll do some Googling and get back to you if I find an good answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably know..

I know how you feel. I've been on since mid-February, and I get hungry, I think about food a lot, and I don't have tremendous amounts of energy. But when I look where I was and compare it to where I am, I see that I've lost weight, my clothes fit better, and if I look at the big picture, I know I'm better off..

If you hadn't started MF, likely you would not have lost as much as you did. (Me? I'd probably weigh more lol). You've done great! These feelings tend to ebb and flow. Tomorrow, by sticking to it, you can say to yourself and anyone else listening "I did it!" What a wonderful sense of accomplishment that will be!..

I appreciate your response. My big problem is I just don't feel full/satisfied. I know I am going to stick with this to achieve my goal but dam...... I work night shift so that makes it a challenge. Sundays are the worst...

Changing our habits are the hardest things we can ever do... When you say your are never full or satisfied try drinking 2 cups of water with your meals. Also, after you eat get busy doing something else so you are not thinking about food...

I'm an emotional bored eater so I know that I was eating a lot when I wasn't even hungry.. I find when I'm busy I don't think about food.

Do you have a digital food scale? Are you using it instead of trying to use a measuring cup? There is a veggie conversion chart so you can weigh your veggies instead of trying to measure them. You are allowed more food than you are eating is my guess..

Also, are you weighing your "lean" after cooking? That is the proper way, and it makes a big difference..

One of my favorite "fill'er up" meals is 7 oz. sea scallops (frozen from Publix) and sauteed spinach. Use olive oil and chopped garlic to cook your sea scallops and then add the (90 grams.) spinach to wilt it down. Weigh the spinach before cooking. I can never eat all of this meal..

Also, 2 Morningstar Farms Tomato Basil Pizza Burgers and yellow squash and salad is a huge amount of food. All of it is allowed on MF..

As Della said, weighing your L&G is a great place to start. You may find out that you are actually shorting yourself! You can split your L&G and eat seven times a day instead of six, and that may help you. Are you eating strictly on plan foods? If you are going over 100 grams of carbs, you can put yourself out of fat burning, at which point hunger will increase. How much water are you drinking each day? At a [b]minimum[b] you should be drinking 64oz (I drink 100oz a day). That will help you stay fuller as well. Hope this helps!..

Wow, I could have written your post and think I have a few times needing to be talked from the ledge. I have found myself in this same situation and I'm on day 16. one thing that helped me is to split my lean and green, it just makes me feel so much better to eat 2 real meals. today I am making a vegi eggbeater omlette and it is huge and ill have that for lunch and dinner. if I make turkey burger I just make 2 smaller ones and have one at lunch and dinner, tuna is good for that too. you can do this, because you really dont want to go back to how you used to be.

For so long eating what I want when iwant was the only thing I could control and then I realized this wasnt the case anymore and I literally cried becasue I could go off plan anytime I wanted BUT I chose not too. it's a struggle everyday, this is so much more than a diet this about being healthy and recovering from food addiction which I know alot of us have. these people on here are so great, and you can do this, you ARE doing this, good luck to you, you are worth it..

I found that some meals are more filling than others. Pretzels and brownies are not that filling to me. However, oatmeal, soups, and shakes with lots of ice and one cup of water are more filling. Also, if I eat on the leaner side such as fish, I'm really full. The eggbeaters or egg whites portion we can eat is huge. You can make a crustless quiche and split it into two portions in a day..

You can do this!! Anyone who rescues greyhounds is an angel in my book! Good luck!!..

All the advice given is what I would say. Changing these habits are the hardest part. Remember that the 5&1 is not forever, it's just during the weightloss phase. Take it one day at a time. Weighing out your l&g is super important... I found that when I do not weigh, I end up shorting myself.

I do that on occassion....

Weekends are the worst for me... it tends to be the time when we would splurge... making big breakfasts... out to eat at some point and that big Sunday dinner. I still do a special dinner on Sundays... roasted chicken or a beef roast..

Stay busy... really throw yourself into this plan... live it, breathe it.....

2 C of Eggbeaters or 14 egg whites with your 3 servings of vegis is another fill-er-upper(is that a word?).

Others have suggested 1 cup of broth, the 2 dill pickle spears for snacks..

Early on, my doctor told me, to lose the weight, to keep it off, YOU'LL NEVER EAT TO FULL AGAIN. What? Huh? I like eating to full, I thought in my head, he's crazy. Then I realized that's what I had been doing for six months, when we had that talk. Not eating to full, eating "FOR FUEL"!!!.

However I do like to "top of my tank" with water. I typically will drink 16-33 ounces right before or right after a meal. And then yes, my belly is FULL, of non-caloric water. It also helps the replacement meals to expand in your belly, helping you to have that "full" feeling..

But this is the time, to re-train ourselves to leave the "full feeling" behind with our old selves..

The Medifast literature also says to enjoy your meal for 15 to 20 minutes. Takes sips of water after every bite. If you're eating your meals too fast, that can lead to being "mentally" hungry sooner, rather than "physically" hungry later..

Everyone else has had some great tips too! Hope that helps!!.

I am a big believer of splitting your lean and green. I usually have a Medifast soup for lunch during the week and add 1/3 of my protein and 1/3 of my green to it. It really fills me up (and most of the time, I forget to eat me afternoon meal). I still have 2/3 left of my L&G for dinner and then a Medifast shake to finish the day..

Also, I had to learn the difference between "stomach hungry" and "mouth hungry". If you are really honest...you will find it is your mouth that wants the food and that your stomach is still satisfied. Just start to observe...stay strong...

So many great and encouraging posts here, I love this site. I found when I started that when I was feeling that hungry it was usually because I wasn't drinking enough water. I also agree that if your are doing something you are less likely to be thinking about eating. Busy is a good thing...

Wow!!! you gals are great! thank you so very much for all the advice/kind words. I actually think I should try splitting the L&G meal, I am drinking a min. of 64oz. of water a day..

Ok here is a question, I am such a picky/plane jane eater that in my mind I fear there isn't really anything other than me eating chicken (baked/grilled) that I can eat. Once in a while I will have a steak. Is there a post/list of ideas for recipes for those who don't cook? Hubby does all the cooking but I would like to take some of the burden off him with preparing my speical meals, plus I think I will feel better about the food I'm eating. Does that sound silly? Also the veggie conversion chart, where is that?.

I hear you..

It's tough- it really is. So much of my life revolved around food. It still does- just in a different way. I am trying to be healthier about it - physically, mentally, emotionally. But I can't expect to undo a lifetime of bad habits and excesses in a short period of time. So while we may experience some immediate physical results, the emotional and mental results may take longer to unfold.

(And to that I have a big "ugh" right now.) I am confident that it will get better, but I don't think it will ever be "easy" - at least not for me. But I think that I am a cause worth fighting for...
