Several weeks ago I attempted to make baked turnip fries, only to find out I had watermelon beets - which are not on plan..

I participate in a community supported agriculture and sometimes have no idea what I get - usually I can find it on google images..

Anyway, got real turnips last night and made turnip fries for dinner tonight..

Preheat oven to 425.

8 medium turnips (I had 2 large, so used a smaller amount of parmesan).

1/4 cup of parmesan cheese.

Paprika.

Onion powder.

Cut turnips into 1/2" x 2" strips.

Place all ingredients in zip lock back and coat.

Spray two cookie sheets with cooking spray.

Bake fries for 15-20 minutes, flip and cook another 5-10 minutes.

I liked mine softer, so I cooked for longer.

Not exactly like potatoe fries, but close for on plan..

I dipped them in low sugar ketchup..

I have never had turnips before, they are mild. It's the texture that is a bit off. But I think cooking longer helps...

This seems so simple I will have to try turnips again. I tried to make a batch last week with a different recipe and they went right from the oven to the trash. One thing Medifast has taught me, I am not a quitter so I will give it another shot...

I made this last night...THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! I cooked them 7 mins between flips and they came out great. I can't wait to grate these and turn em into hash browns! I've never cooked turnips before, and had a horrible experience with baked radishes, so I was really not expecting to be wowed. They were a great treat!..

I bought turnips this afternoon to try.... what do they taste like? I may bake some up tomorrow evening... kind of enjoying the new foods things... so fay, atleast for me.... spaghetti squash is out.... yuck! The radishes were great! I do not like lc melted into the zuchinni ribbons...

I do like my zuchinni sliced into disks... alittle evoo and s&p.... in a 400 oven until roasted and then I sprinkle alittle parm and roast until the cheese browns... YUMMO! Hopingto add turnips to my list.....

I love turnip fries too!!.

I use the parm cheese, along with a generous amount of pepper and about 1/4 tsp. of nutmeg. I think the nutmeg makes them taste milder, and it enhances the flavor (kind of like when you add a dash of nutmeg to your mac and cheese)..

The texture is not like french fries made with potatoes, but just the same I really enjoy them!.
