Got a quick question: Medifast or Medifast? Which one did you try and what were your results? Thanks for any comment. Another quick question... I'm coming to the end of my third week on MF. The scale hasn't budged in a week- in fact, at the end of week 2, it said I actually gained a few pounds back after an 11-pound loss! I recently got a new scale and now I'm not seeing changes. My sister (almost 2 months into MF) has offered encouragement, but I need to hear from others who had to deal with this too..

I'm definitely going to stick with it because I know it will be worth it, but it's hard not to be frustrated when I know about 4 other people who will have lost 20+ pounds in their first month. I do have hypothyroidism which makes it extra hard to shed the weight, but I'm feeling confused about the gain. I haven't cheated, I only occasionally take advantage of the optional snacks, I drink about a gallon of water a day... I tried a few 4-shake days, too. Did anyone else experience this?..

I'm stumped. I'm not so sure what is the right answer. I'll do some investigation and get back to you if I discover an decent answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could give you help..

I do log everything I eat, including condiments. When I say I did a 4-shake day, I mean that 4 of my five Medifast meals were shakes- I still had a fifth meal and my L&G...

Im also approaching the end of my third week. This week I have not lost any weight. Actually like you I did gain at the beginning of the 3rd week even though it was only 0.4 lbs, it was still again. Im frustrated and am also looking for answers, because I was OP 100%. Didnt even have any snacks, drank over 8cups of water and walked one mile 3 times this week! I lost only 7.4 lbs my first two weeks...

Maribel, if you are following the program to a "t" and it sounds like you are, you will lose. If you have thyroid issues, then that is something that will affect you. Don't worry about how quickly you are losing. It's a journey. Enjoy it...

The 3rd week is known to be one of the hardest/lowest weight loss. I experienced it, and I ended up having several people tell me they did too. The first week you drop a lot of water..... and then your body has to readjust. Also, I especially noticed in the beginning I'd go DAYS with no loss, freak out, and then have a great loss. Hang in there! You are making a DRASTIC change to your eating habits, and your body is just trying to figure it all out.

It will come off!!! :-) I hope this helps!..

Not my post, but I had a tough week as well - seeing these responses help - especially the tickers and wl history. thanks!..

Definitely helpful- thank you!.

No cheating... I know how angry I would be with myself afterward. I'm determined to stick with this for a multitude of reasons (not the least of which is the fact that I'm a grad student who already invested a chunk of money in it, haha). It will be worth it. It's just very frustrating to see that I gained weight and haven't lost what I gained for no apparent reason...

People lose at different rates. I.

Lost 5.4 pounds the first week and have only lost a little over a pound each subsequent week. I could be upset that some people on the boards cheat and lose 10 pounds in a week or I can be proud that I'm 100% OP and have lost 10 pounds in 5 weeks when I probably gained that much before...

Hang in there! It's not unusual for weeks 2 and 3 to be not so great, especially if you have an exceptional loss in week one. If you are weighing yourself more than once a week, you aren't going to see a drop in the scale every day. Sometimes I can go all week with no change, then have a "whoosh" on the scale. Remember, weight loss is not linear. You may have some disappointing weeks but over time, if you stick with the program, you will have a downward trend and see results!.

Justpraisin wrote a wonderful blog last month that I think would be helpful for you to read..

I just want to mention, too, that if you are on thyroid medication you should be utilizing non-soy Medifast products (hot drinks, cold drinks, cream soups, soft serve, antioxidant shakes, and scrambled eggs) around the 2 to 4 hour window of taking your medication because soy can reduce the absorption of thyroid medication. It is acceptable to use any of the other products the rest of the day...

Hang in there. I really commend you for coming to the board and posting that you need encouragement. You can do this and you are WORTH IT!..

Thanks so much, everyone- I'll come back to this and read it if this kind of week continues!..

Week 3 was the hardest week for me too, so far. I lost 5 lbs in week one, 4 lbs in week 2, and 1 lb in week 3. We will see how week 4 turns out. I was feeling really bad about it, and then I went into the chat room and was told by some who have reached their goal and others who are well on their way, that it is typical to see this "slow down" at this point. I was also encouraged that it will again pick up!.

I do understand your discouragement... I have been feeling it myself since Thursday. Like you, I am determined to move forward and reach my goal. Best of luck to you!..

I'm only on my week 2 but just wanted to say, don't worry. It's all good..

I'm a fan of Biggest Loser and, inevitably, when someone on the show loses a big number one week, they nearly always have a huge drop in weight loss the subsequent week..

For some reason, our bodies slow down to adjust. Probably our body's way of making sure we're getting enough nutrients that it doesn't need to go into "starvation" mode and hold onto it's fat..

Also, water and TOM (time of the month) plays a huge factor. I'm 2-3 lbs heavier at that time and can easily shift day-to-day .2 to .8, at any time, just based on water retention..

Best of luck!..

Merebeldith - Today is the end of my second week on Medifast and I'm only down 1lb this week after losing 10lbs the first. I don't have your medical issues but I know how discouraging it is. Like you I've been following the plan, weighing the L&G, using few condiments, drinking the water, etc. What's worse is that I'm still starving and I'm being careful to eat in the upper end of calorie range..

That said, I'm sticking with Medifast because 2 weeks is not enough time to really see results. Plus, the 10 lb loss stopped my snoring, I'm sleeping better (still not great but better is good), and I have a little more energy..

Concentrate on the positives and stick with the plan, it does work. (I keep telling myself this, too)..

I am going to stay off the scale and weigh in after 1 month. I refuse to focus on the scale or be a slave to it. I know this program will work as long as I follow it to a "T."..

I just had the same thing happen. But here is the good news, The 2 lbs. I was up the first of my 3rd week, was part of the 4-5 lbs. that came off by the end of that same week. I stayed on program and I bought a food scale to make sure I was eating the correct amount of my Lean. Stick too it, it will all come together.

Good luck!..

This is known as the "three week stall". You are losing inches this week! =)..

Great Attitude, Kimberly! We all gain and lose at different rates due to different factors. When I saw tremendous weight drops each week for some MF-er's, I was like " That is AWESOME, I can't wait for that to be me!" But we're not cookies cut from the same dough or with the same cutter for that matter. I have been lucky enough to have shown losses each week so far (my 3rd WI is tomorrow, so it's not like I have a lot of milestones under my belt as far as Medifast goes) But I do have what the OP has. The determination and the drive to be 100%, and to see this through..

Oh, and like I said above, tomorrow is my 3rd WI... I had never heard that the third week is the toughest to show a weight drop in pounds, BUT. I know that now, and Forewarned is Forearmed. So thanks, OP for posting your question and sharing, and thanks to all those vets who've "been there, done that" who have answered after..

Have a great day!..

Everyone has given you great advice. If you are on medication for hypothyroidism, make sure you are taking it at least 2-3 hours before or after you have eaten any meal that has soy in it and at least 1 hour before or after.

Meal. That is hard to do while following the 5 and 1 so I take my meds when I get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom which I consistently do because of all the water I am drinking. If you don't get up to piddle, then make sure you are having a non-soy meal before and after you take your meds. This has worked well for me..

I am going to copy a post below from the registered dietitians that may help. You can go to the dietitians site and put key words into the "search this forum" box and find all kinds of information...
