Hi everyone, quick 1st question: If I am having morning sickness should I get a prego test thing form the Vitamin Shoppe?.

My 2nd question is: Hi everyone! I was just going to see if I could get anyone to post their favorite likes and then the their dislikes. What have you have that you would absolutely never order again and what things you really like to eat. And if you are feeling frisky maybe a recipe that you have used to dr things up. I ordered my food but havent started yet. When I looked it was stuck somewhere in PA. lol.

Well that was until I keep reading these reviews about how nasty the food is! So please if you can help me out!.

Thanks and Happy New Year to ALL!!!.

Sara.

Your question was: If I am having morning sickness should I get a prego test thing form the Vitamin Shoppe?.

I agree with Pam! I'd suggest first starting with foods you generally like. For me, I love split pea soup and spicy things, so I started with the soup and the Cajun chicken and New Orleans chicken. Then tried other things I usually like and found for the most part I also liked the NS versions..

I also tried a few things I don't normally like, such as the Advanced Chicken Fettucini Alfredo and found I loved it, and was totally bummed that I'd only ordered the 1 just to try..

And other things I usually like I wasn't crazy about the NS version, such as the now-discontinued Cherry Jubilee pudding..

There is so much variety that you should be able to find a whole bunch of things you like - I know I have! In fact, it's hard to do my monthly order since I want so much of so many different things! I'll probably continue with occasional deliveries after I get to goal because I like the food...

If you do a search on the boards, you'll find lots of posts about this. Most people will tell you one persons favorite, is the next persons most hated. Try as many as you can, keep notes on what you like & don't like. With that said, I haven't heard many people who don't like the flame broiled beef patty, the cheesy mashed potatoes or the pancakes.

Good luck to you!..

This is from one of our gurus, The-Jazzman, in his FAQ section (Note: Some of the menu items he mentions may not be currently offered, but you get the gist.):.

Likes/Dislikes; What is Your Favorite Food.

Everyone's taste is different. If you do ask this in a post, you will get quite a variety of answers. I personally can't stand the vegetarian pasta salad, and if you listen to me, you won't order it. But *Linda* replied in a post that she loves it. So who do you listen to? The answer is yourself. Only you will be able to accurately answer what tastes best for you.

And don't let your previous likes and dislikes fool you. For eample Craig thought he would like the Orange Beef with Noodles since he absolutely love Chinese food. Nope, turns out he disliked it so much it holds the record of being the only dinner entree he could not finish eating. I'm sure there are others that love it, though. So many of us recommend that you take the favorites package and try everything at least once. You should also keep notes about them, such as how well you liked them, or what you will do next time to spice it up.

There is something else to consider, which I myself discovered after a couple months on the program. When we first start NS, our bodies are used to a high fat, high sugar, low nutrient diet. Our bodies need time to adapt and get used to a more balanced, nutritional way of eating. I didn't like the chicken cacciatore lunch at all, when I ate during my first week. But two months later, I tried it again and actually liked it very much. I tried some of the others that I didn't like the first week, and they taste much better now.

Other members have reported a similar experience when I posted about this...

There already is a "Foods I'd Never Order Again" thread going. That may not be the exact title but there is one here currently...

Don't panic. I ordered my food and then came here and read the board. Wouldn't you know it I found that people had said they hated 90% of what I ordered. Oh I was upset. Then I decided I would try everything with an open mind..

Guess what? I found that I loved lots of the foods that the others had complained about and hated some of the stuff people said they loved...

I agree with the rest of these wonderful people!.

My advice is to order things close to items you would normally eat anyway. Good luck!..

Hi & Welcome!.

This is just my opinion regarding the taste of the food:.

If you gained your weight because you ate fast food, donuts, pizza, McD's, and junk food and if you rarely eat vegetables or fruits, then you may not enjoy the NS food. Picky eaters and poor eaters (fastfood-aholics and junkfood junkies) who didn't eat healthy prior to NS - may not like it.

If you eat all sorts of foods and just ate too much, and portion control is why you gained your weight, then you probably will enjoy the NS food. Overeaters, who like all kinds of foods, shouldn't have a problem with the food taste..

For your first order, I suggest ordering one of each item. Try as many different things as you can, and decide for yourself whether you like it or not. Everyone has different tastes.

The reasons why I think a meal is nasty may not be the same for you. For instance, I hate bell peppers, so I don't order food with bell peppers. You may love that meal. Many people hate the eggs. I love the eggs. I hate the biscotti, and many people rave about it.

Heres something else strange. I dont like homemade meatloaf, but I love the NS meatloaf. I hate green/english peas in reality, but love the split pea soup. Again, I cant stand bell peppers, but they dont bother me in the mushroom risotto (my favorite dish). So, I would try them all and make your own decisions...

It is a kind of funny that I have always liked the Mac and Cheese. Now I can not eat it at all. I always liked most of the ones that come in the paper cups but none taste good to me anymore. Not sure why but I am having a real problem with them. Your tastes do change like Pam said...

I really agree about changing tastes. When I first started, I really liked the Mushroom Risotto and the Tortellini now, not so much. I didnt care for the breakfast granola, but now (esp now that I know to mix it up with my non-fat vanilla yogurt) it's my favorite meal. I'm getting 12 in my next shipment!.

Actually, I found that reading other people's poor reactions to food I had liked made me start to dislike them (human nature, I guess I'm a sheep after all ). And that's a terrible thing, since we are ultimately limited in our choices.

My Advice: Try everything that is even remotely appealing at least once, and see what YOU think!..

I whole heartedly agree with the rest of the posters regarding try for yourself!.

[My faves: Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal, (sloppy joe...discontinued), black bean soup, weged potatoes with sliced beef steak.]..

Graylady (Lynn), a very successful NutriSystem member, has taken the time and energy to collect tons of information about how to make the foods taste the way YOU like them:.

Link to Graylady's Recipe Collection.

And, as far as people listing likes and dislikes...why pre-prejudice yourself based on other people's taste buds? Do you and I both agree on every single item on a restaurant's menu? Of course not! I adore sushi, foie gras and escargot...my hubby would rather die the death of a billy goat than be at the same table with any of those things. He drinks Dr. Pepper...I would GAG if my Diet Coke got switched with his vile drink. And, on and on..

Keep an open mind...you'll likely be surprised at what turn out to be your favorite dishes..

Edited to add: The numbers for weight are STARTING WEIGHT/CURRENT WEIGHT/GOAL WEIGHT...therefore, your 3rd number should be your GOAL WEIGHT, unless you want to maintain at 210 forever....

Be well...
