Your question was: Hypothyroid and Nutrisystem.
The food is only frozen if you're on the select plan, and even then I don't think it all is. I am on week three and none of my food has looked the slightest bit off to me. Some of the desserts are a little crushed, but still very edible! It all looks too well sealed for bugs or anything like that...
I'll tell you what, I didn't go from this:.
By eating ants! And, I loved EVERY bite on the way down!..
Pam I was just looking at your page! You are truly an inspiration!! You look AMAZING!!!!! Congrats to you!!! Makes me want to work very hard to lose my 60 pounds!..
Artichoke lover - I agree - only day three for me and other than a little crushing nothing looks non edible to me!.
Good Luck to you!..
Thanks, Mbongard. Just don't let the nay-sayers get you down. I went from a 2X top to that little size 2 dress. Maybe had they stuck with it, they'd be singing a different tune, huh?.
Enjoy your NutriJourney!..
PamSB you are indeed an inspiration. I'm at the beginning of my journey, but am wondering what happens when you make goal. What do you do to maintain?..
I've been eating Nutrisystem foods since June 2008 and never had a problem with anything. I admit there are certain items I didn't care for but that's just personel preferences. There will be NO surprises in your Nutrisystem food..
As far as the hypothyroidism and soy products goes... I take synthroid for a slow thyroid (is that what you have?) and haven't had any problems at all...
Go to my page (link below) and I have my actual maintenance plan listed, meal by meal...
I started my Nutrisystem journey in Jan. of 07 & have yet to find any form of wildlife...animal or vegetable... in any of my Nutrisystem food; &, no, I've never ordered any of the frozen foods because I'm out in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. I don't refrigerate anything except foods that might melt...like chocolate desserts/snacks...
I am very new too! I just finished my 4th week and I have Hypothyroidism/Hashimoto's disease. I, too, was very concerned about the high content of soy in the foods since soy is said to interfere with the absorbtion of synthetic thyroid hormones as well as the conversion from T4 to T3. I was diagnosed about 2.5 years ago and workout about 6 hours a week. I would have never bought Nutrisystem because of the soy content, but my Mother-in-Law gave me 4 weeks worth. Sooooooo...after trying EVERYTHING!! I decided to give it a go. I am down 16 pounds in 4 weeks.
Here are the modifications.. I take my meds at 5am, go back to sleep, go to gym from 6:30-7:30 and eat at around 8:30 or 9. I try to get as much time between my meds and my first meal. I have eliminated all the "goiterific" foods (not sure if that is what they are called, but they include cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, soybeans). I am only taking soy from the Nutrisystem foods that I eat.
I am super happy to see results, especially after such a long road of consistent workouts that had no weight loss results. Good luck!..
I take synthroid too! I I will most likely make an appt with my dr. just to make sure I don't harm myself but I am loving Nutrisystem so far. I am getting the hang of how to add to foods and make them to my liking. I also have lost 5 pounds since Monday!!! Yeah me!!! I also love that I am not hungry at all and feel like I am eating a lot. Tonight I had the mac and cheese and added my broccoli and carrots and a little bit of cheese. It was delicious!..
Linda -yes I do have hypothyroidism as well. Glad to hear you haven't had any problems! thanks!..
