Well, I am on day 4 and have been 100%! I consider that a success. But, I have noticed that today I have been hungry where I have not the other 3 days. Is this normal to get a few days in and then be hungry?..

Your question was: Hunger while on Nutrisystem.

If you have days when you are hungry then look at the foods you have ate consider adding more unlimited veggies or see what foods are different from the days when you aren't hungry.

As previously stated you can often drink water and your hunger disappears. Depending on how much you ate before Nutrisystem your body will adapt and in time you woun't be hungry because you are full...

There are days when you feel more hungry than others. Those are the days I envision my body burning lots and lots of fat.

These are also the days I try to drink lots of water, check my food journal to be sure I'm eating everything that I'm supposed to be eating and choose the most filling ways to fulfill my add in requirements. And eat lots of unlimited veggies. There is a post about what to do on hungry days in this thread (Tips for Newbies...). Here's the link. http://boards.members.nutrisystem.co...d.php?t=166166.

Actually this link has all kinds of good advice for getting started in you Nutrisystem program. Another great place to look for tips when you are starting out is PamSB's My Page. Here's the link to that:.

Are those of you that are hungry getting in your full protein servings? That is really key to fighting the hunger. If you are hungry, eat protein servings that are 100 calories, but no more than 3 grams of fat. They need to have at least 7 garms of protein, but the more you can pack in that 100 calories, the better. For example, have 3 ounces of turkey rather than a cheese stick or an egg. I was never hungry eating Nutrisystem food when I did that...

Just don't let the hunger derail you! As others have said, there could be a simple reason that you're feeling like thateither too little food or maybe anxiety about eating a little less sometimes. I went through a day or two of my 1st week not eating quite enough because of one little thing I didn't understand! And constant hunger will lead to bingeing so don't let that mess you up!..

I have found weekends to be harder than during the week because schedules are all different. Leisure time seems to call for food to snack on and sometimes unlimited veggies just don't quite fill the bill. So far I have been able to do something to get my mind off food, but I think this is the hardest part. I'm not hungry at all or celery sticks would sound great. I just want to go back to my old habits and gorge on chips and cheese and stuff. I am thinking about this as training for the future...

In fact, that's what I have done in the past so all those "diets" didn't work.

Now I am ready to learn ways to get through those times without cancelling out the work I've already done. I read these boards every day - even some I've read before - and I read everything else Nutrisystem offers on it's site. I need the motivation and tenacity these things provide. It's not all about food here. The food is just a tool we use to get to the right place. It's an education we're all after, on how to live healthy lives from now on...

Pat, you are so correct that that this is a time for retraining ourselves to look at food differently. Are you using the Mind Makeover? That is definitely an important part of the process for learning how to interact more appropriately with food and cravings and our emotions.

I also find the weekends the hardest times. During the week when I'm at work, there are significantly less chances to eat. And what I have to eat is much more structured since I'm bringing all but the salads with me.

I find the boards to be a great way to get myself focused again and committed to staying on plan. And if I'm typing all the better because it's hard to eat and type at the same time.

Stay strong and 100%. You are worth the effort this journey takes!!!..

Pat, you are so right! And TZGaine, I also have problems on the weekends..

On the weekends, I try all the yummy recipes for breakfast and lunch. My weekdays are pretty standard..

As to the hunger, in my humble opinion, yes, there are some days you will be hungry. I had to literally tell myself to "Get Out Of the Kitchen" and many days I was hungry. Food preparation and eating were a source of entertainment and I also dropped my caloric intake by 75 percent..

Drink lots of water, and make sure you maximize the protein.

In the end, it is all a mindset to "Do It This time!".

Good luck, keep on the boards. They really do help..

Lynn.

And the black mini poodles..

Finally! Someone willing to fess-up. I was starting to think I was the only one. I have hungry days sometimes, it's true. But then I just take a look in the mirror...or put on a pair of old pants and realize how giant the gap is between the clothes and my waist and everything is okay...

I think that hunger is also sometimes attributed to what your accustomed to from the past. When in doubt... eat ice. I know that sounds stupid, but the psychological effect of actually EATING something and that something being 0 calories seems to work for me...

Congrats on 100% x 4!.

I'va had a few of those days and I usually get thru the hunger pangs by either drinking some water and waiting 15 minutes or reviewing my intake for the day to see if I missed a protein or a a vegetable. That was the reason a couple times. Other times I ate a free food like FF Jello w/ FF cool whip or some unlimited veggies. I always take my time eating when I am eating because of hunger pangs. If you eat slower, the body-mind connection will sync together and inform the other that you ate. Some minds are slower than others..
