Your question was: How does Nutrisystem food taste?.

I don't know if you're looking to join Nutrisystem to just loose a few pounds, or if, like me, it's time for a major lifestyle change. If it's the latter, than you're asking the wrong question. If the taste of the food is a deal-breaker, then you're not ready. In order to succeed, you have to get to the place where taste is no longer a priority getting healthy is. Letting our taste buds push us around is what got us in this mess. So you have to say to yourself, I don't care if it tastes like cardboard, I'll eat it and learn to love it.

There will be things you really like, things you can take or leave, and things you don't order again, and they are different things for each person. On the whole, the taste won't knock your socks off, but it won't be a barrier. Not unless you're just looking for an excuse...

AND cook the egg Fritata according to the directions! I used to try to do "shortcuts" on some of food preps but found that the label instructions really make a difference in how the food comes out...for the better!.

I had to get used to the egg frit and while it is not a fav, I always include 1 or 2 of them each month for variety. You do get used to the food even the ones you thought you did not or would like , you end up liking..

There isn't that much there for any meals. If you have to- 3 gulps and it is gone. There are "fix ups" all over the forums on how to make things taste better. My first order I kept a list and then the next order I only got what I liked. If you want this bad enough- you can choke it down. But 90% I thought was great. I have only thrown out 1 thing...

My husband and I just started and so far have liked most things. We are not too picky however. Chocolate stuff was melted and did not look too appetizing but tasted OK. I just customized my second order to include the things I like best. there is a trial pack on the website where you can order 1 weeks worth to try the food...

Agreed!.

Cajanlady - are you from Louisiana? I am. My dad worked for Zatarains for about 25 years, developing all their products. Guess who the guinea pigs were??? Nutrisystem isn't in the same universe as cajun/creole food, but I DO know that if anyone can doctor something up, a cajun girl can!!! Try the Red Beans & Rice...it's not bad with a little creole seasoning..

Good luck and congrats for taking this big step!.

Don't order the egg frittata! I started 4 days ago, my first meal was the egg frittata. I couldn't make myself eat it, and I was really afraid of lunch, which was fettucini alfredo. That tasted much better than the eggs, but it's not a favorite..

Since then I have enjoyed everything I've had. I think the first month is trial and error, but thankfully if you get something you just can't eat, you can exchange it...

I like the egg frittata! I add a whole egg to it and extra peppers and onions. Everyone is different about what they do and don't like. Your best bet is to simply try different items to see what you do and don't like the 1st month. You can customize your order easily that 1st month if you have an idea of what you want, or start customizing the second month after you've tried what they send in the 1st box.

The packaged food that comes shelf stable is not what you would consider gourmet, but I think most things are really tasty. You can also make recipes with the items (like blueberry bread pudding with the blueberry muffins) and spice up other items with different added seasonings or additions if you want.

Good luck to you if you decide to order!..

I have been on Nutrisystem for 12 days now and been very happy with the food. My sister did this last year and said the food wasn't bad at all. So I took a chance. I was a little leary with each meal (expecting something to taste horrible) but it's just not been the case. I have my favorites I really look forward to. Good luck...

I like about 80% of the food and 10% of those I could tolerate if I had to. My advice is to custom order from the beginning and try a little of everything and keep changing your order until it's all things that you love to eat...

Is the food good? I suspect that most of the people who didn't think so aren't here any more to answer you...

I've been here 4 1/2 years and really do like the food. I make it taste exactly the way I like it with seasonings and spices and fruit and vegetables, etc. There are many, many choices for each of the meals and what one person loves, like the egg frittata, others might not like as much or at all. But, that person could have cereal or oatmeal or pancakes or scones or muffins, etc., instead. The scones can be made into french toast, the muffins can be made into bread pudding, the pancake mix can be made into a bundt cake (sweet or savory). There are literally thousands of variations that members have created with the basic foods and gladly share with everyone (TIPS & RECIPES and FOOD TIPS).

The NutriSystem food is only a very small part of what you eat. You add veggies and salads and fruit and dairy and protein and fat. I have always looked at the NutriSystem entree as a basis of the meal and grew the meal from that (for example, a huge mound of steamed veggies for dinner with the NutriSystem food dumped on top as more of a sauce for the veggies)..

I'll tell you what, however, to have accomplished these results and stayed under goal since September, 2007, I would have eaten the cardboard boxes with a little seasoning and my side dishes and been a happy camper.....

+1. It is a good idea to explore the entire menu, but I'd take it gradually. Start yourself with a base of foods you're pretty sure you'll like and give yourself 4 days of "oh what the heck, try it" each month.

I've been extremely happy with the food. I could eat this stuff even if I wasn't looking to lose weight still...

^ This. Although i'd say depending on the category, it's pretty much 95 to 5% dislike. And believe me, i'm a foodie, since I was little I loved a whole variety of different foods and even I enjoy most everything...
