First question I got is Has anyone ever done the Medifast diet? Thanks for any comment. Another quick question... I am at the point where just about everyone is noticing my weight loss - even through my sometimes baggy clothes. I had a colleague say to me today, "Oh, you've really lost weight. We'll have to hang out this summer." Was this intended to be a compliment? So I wasn't good enough to "hang out" with her thirty some odd pounds ago? I know she didn't mean it this way, but comments like this can be hurtful...

That's a good question. I'm not sure what is the answer to your question. I'll do some poking around and get back to you if I bump into an anything. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could help you..

Really tough to say since I dunno this person's background with you. On one hand you're right, a lot of people are nicer when we're thinner which is lame. On the other hand, we can be hypersensitive and take things the wrong way with all the change that has happened. Sometimes stuff just comes out wrong and she might be mortified to think you took it like that..

70something pounds ago I didn't wanna hang out with anyone new. I wanted to eat and avoid facing people/new situations. Maybe you're putting out a friendlier vibe? If that's not the case and you think it was a shallow thing, that's her darn problem not a reflection on who you were and are now...

People can say the most gauche things sometimes!.

You are doing great losing weight and feel free to ignore the comments of those that may be jealous or just unaware of how they sound. Stay strong!..

People seem to become very awkward when commenting on someone else's weight loss and the words don't always come out as intended. You have a choice. To either take this personally and be upset with this individual, or to take it as it was most likely meant, as a compliment to your weight loss..

While we would all love it for everyone we see who comments to be happy for us and coherent, and give us high fives, fact is, compliments can be as hard to hand out as they can at times be to take, and like this forum, are often misinterpreted..

You've done great. Keep up the good work. ^5..

Tell her you are sorry but you'll be much too busy with other plans - hee hee :-D..

Wow, I think she was maybe saying it in mean why I'm assuming but hard to tell...maybe you should ask her about the situation.....

I lost 50lbs my last go round of Medifast. I met goal over the summer and when that happened, people who never talked to me, now wanted to be friends. Guys who never said a word to me at work, now started talking to me everyday! Relatives that haven't made conversation with me at big family functions for years, now started talking to me. It was so weird, but all I kept thinking was "how superficial are you that you will only associate with me when I'm thin?" I had to really know who my true friends were. I guess it's also like that when people come into money. Weird. It's like you make them look good now, so they'll have you around...

Did you turn down invitations to hang out when you were heavier? She may be HOPING you'll hang out with her now!..

I wouldn't read too much into it. Perhaps she is very active/athletic and didn't think to invite you to things before, but thinks you could or would want to do them now? Or maybe she's just socially awkward and says things wrong...
