Suggestions welcome! My husband and I (both follow Nutrisystem) will be taking a road trip to Wyoming for about a week. What are the "safest" places to eat (b'fast/lunch or dinner); what should I look for first: fat or carbs? We are both v active so will def work off some of the extras we'll eat plus we'll watch portion/size. Just wondering if anyone can recommend certain restos/places to eat...

Your question was: Good places to eat out during Nutrisystem?.

Subway is always a safe bet. They tend to be everywhere and it's easy to make healthy choices there...

Breakfast is pretty easy. Most diners can serve you two scrambled eggs and dry wheat toast. Or an egg white omlette (hold the cheese). Or oatmeal with skim milk and raisons. Or low fat yogurt and fruit...

I always try to look for restaurants that offer good salads, as well as grilled meats (chicken, seafood, etc) for lunch and/or dinner. Grilled fish can sometimes be cooked with lots of butter, so watch out for that, but otherwise can be a nice dinner with veggies, salad, 1/2 sweet potato or brown rice. Lunches - maybe 1/2 healthy sandwich (turkey or tuna) and salad..

Other ideas are to take some Nutrisystem lunch bars and eat a salad. Also, some people eat the Nutrisystem meals cold - they are fully cooked..

Here are some "flex" guidelines to keep in mind to help with portion sizes and other decisions:.

Breakfast.

1 Dairy Serving.

1 Lean Protein Serving.

1 Fruit Serving.

1 Low Glycemic Carbohydrate Serving.

Lunch.

1 Fat Serving.

2 Lean Protein Serving.

1 Salad Serving 2 Tbsp. Fat Free Dressing (if desired).

1 Low Glycemic Carbohydrate Serving.

1 Vegetable Serving.

Afternoon Snack.

1 Dairy or Protein Serving.

1 Fruit Serving.

Dinner.

2 Fat Serving.

3 Lean Protein Serving.

1 Salad or Fruit Serving 2 Tbsp. Fat Free Dressing (if desired).

1 Low Glycemic Carbohydrate Serving.

2 Vegetable Serving.

Dessert.

1 Dairy Serving.

1 Low Glycemic Carbohydrate Serving.

Good luck and safe travels!.

Applebee's under 550 calorie menu for dinner is a good option. Skip the alcohol. Anything grilled - fish, chicken....with salads or veggies...

Click on the Tips and Recipes at the top of the page and look at the Dining Out guide. The links on the left side of that page are especially good in learning to avoid high calorie/fat foods in certain cuisines. Have a fun trip!!..

Cracker Barrell actually for breakfast, check out the low carb section, they will do egg beaters and turkey sausage with no extra charge. They have a meal with that, wheat toast and tomato..

Uno's has healthy options, Applebees, Red Lobster if you stick to the daily fish menu. I would look up several chains and find the stuff that works the best and print it out and take it with me so you don't have to try to remember what is what. Some fast food places have some reasonable choice but not always the ones you would think. Grilled chicken with a salad always works, ask questions about how food is cooked, share a meal since leftovers will be hard to carry. A little cooler with some fruit and healthy snacks and water would help too.

Have a great time!..

I try to go to places that post their nutrition stats online. Then I use this chart and can find healthy choices most of the time.....

Where will you be? Laramie? Yellowstone? It's a big state without a lot of towns in it. I would definitely suggest keeping a few bars in your car for emergencies...
