My question is Does the Medifast Diet require exercise? Many thanks for any answer. My other question... This is my first day and I see a pattern already. I am not really horribly hungry but I want to eat. I am so used to having more to eat by 10:30 in the morning and am feeling like I am missing something. I have 2 more hours until lunch and I am don't know what to do.

Any thoughts... comments... help!!!.

The answer is Yes, but you might want to make sure and wait for another person here to confirm my answer as I am on the fence. Better yet, why don't you e-mail the Medifast guys because they can give you an answer better...

Your schedule for your nutrition is going to be key here, I think. You might think about charting your usual snack times and times when you feel you need to eat, and put your Medifast meals in those slots? I did this at first and it really worked. Instead of white knuckling it, I was able to adjust my schedule gradually and not feel deprived..

Hmmm.... white knuckles almost sound good enough to eat!.

This is tough... It is almost like an addiction. I am not sure if I am addicted to eating or the food. I read somewhere that it helps to drink broth for the first few days. What are your thoughts?..

Sionnan - It's my first day, too, and I'm not as hungry as I though I'd be but I still want to eat. Be careful with the broth, many are high in sodium..

IMO, we have to endure the physical discomfort as our bodies adjust to this and start figuring out if it's hunger hunger or boredom hunger or something else...

Yeah the first few days on day 1 practically again after my splurge this weekend....but hey...just hang in there you will feel BETTER eventually...and also have your HUNGRY days too,..

My feeling about broth is if it helps you go for it. I had a horrible first 3 days..mostly of my own doing, but in chat, someone suggested broth and someone else suggested pickle spears. They both saved me. I used them the first week and then less often the second week and I haven't had either of them since. There are low sodium broths. To tell you the truth, I don't think the sodium will hurt you (unless you have certain medical conditions) and the lack of that is sometimes the problem.

A little water weight gain is better than going off the program because you ate your knuckles...

Hang tough!! Your mind and body are just getting acquainted with your new habits! Sometimes in the beginning, things are tough, kind of like introducing a new cat to your original pets! MEOW! HISS!.

The pickle spears were a HUGE part of my first week! And I still have one every once in a while. You can also have an extra shake if you need it!.

You can do this!! You will feel so GREAT mentally and physically in a short time! Plus, anyone with a sense of humor like yours has to be tough! Loved the white knuckles comment!.

I'm almost at the end of week 2 and I know exactly what you mean. I wasn't exactly hungry, but I wasn't entirely full either. Felt like I could definitely eat more..


Drink water, lots and lots and lots of water. You can't think about food if you are peeing all the time.

Setting a schedule definitely helped me, learning to eat slow (even going so far as putting the food down and stepping away from it for a bit) helped, and reading everything on the boards helped as a distraction. You can get through this!..

I ate pickles my first week and the salt really helped me feel better..

I would not eat another Medifast meal, even a shake, on the off chance that your carbs are high enough that that meal could keep you out of ketosis. You WANT to be in keosis because that's when you start feeling much better. If anything, I might eat a little extra lean from your lean & green (I'm not advising that, but it's a better option than an extra shake)...
