The Medifast eggs are fortified with vitamins and minerals. Egg substitutes are not, and they would have to count as part of your lean & green protein allotment. You cannot substitute them for Medifast eggs otherwise; the ratio of carbs/calories/protein etc. is very different...

I have six egg whites to count as my "lean" several times a week. ( I have 36 hens) If you look under the "other" part for lean and green, they are listed. I am not sure if you could substitute them in the Medifast recipes though...
I thought we could have 8 egg whites for our lean portion?? I could have sworn I heard that in another posting?? anyone know??..
Well that's what I was thinking using 2 egg whites for a simple cookie batter that would count as a portion of L&G....just until order comes in for Medifast eggs...
I would use them, why not? Long as you count the L&G... You might have to adjust the liquids in the recipes, though, use less water perhaps...
I use the" just whites "in all my recipes here. I only use 2 tsp. full =1 egg white. to the pita bread recipe. It comes out the same and I get to eat both halves of the bread that way. I dont use anymore water.
Doesnt seem to slow weight loss any. so low in calories and carbs. So I say, so what!!! It works and tastes great..... you have to be creative, and do what works for you!!!..
The serving size for egg whites for the lean is 6, not 8..
I don't have any Medifast eggs either. In the case of substituting them in a recipe (like muffins or something), how much egg whites would you use?..
Just my 2 cents...I buy the generic eggbeaters, and find that I am losing great. I count it as a Medifast meal, because eggbeaters are no carb, no fat, and way lower in calories than Medifast eggs, I know all of you will probably holler at me, but I am young and I can only see a difference of the vitamins and minerals, I can take that as a trade off for a lot cheaper option..
I was thinking of doing the same thing. It would be cheaper to use eggbeaters instead of the Medifast eggs and I still try to take a vitamin a day anyway. I don't really see what the difference is.
I too use egg beaters!! It mentions you can have them in the vegetarian section of your quick start book, so I too use them as my lean section of the L&G. Also, I called Nutrisystem for a question about adding veggies to my eggs, and they said you can have a 1 1/2 cups of raw veggies. So I whipped up a mean omelet. It was so yummy!!!.

When I use eggbeaters, I just count it as a Medifast meal, I still eat my meat for dinner, and have lost 10 lbs the first week, 4.6 the next, so I figure it is working....of course I only have them a few times a week!..
This is interesting. I was really looking forward to getting the scrambled eggs with my first reorder. When I first tried them, I microwaved them and expected them to tast like scrambled eggs but.....they don't. They taste more like pieces of rubber. So, I did the PAM and frying pan thing, no better. Then I added one serving of eggbeaters to them while cooking, still awful.
Patsy, I mix up my eggs the night before (actually I mix all 5 meals the night before). I put 1/4 cup water, a little garlic, a little butter buds, and a shake of minced onions in with the eggs. I shake it and leave it in the fridge overnight. In the morning, I spray a pan with no-stick cooking spray, let the pan heat up over medium heat. Then I shake the eggs hard and pour them into the pan. I let them just cook like that so they make an omelet, I don't stir them to make scrambled.
Have to admit, sometimes I'm not good at folding, so it's not always pretty, but it's very good...
I have used them in recipies instead of Medifast eggs. You cannot use 2 eggs to replace a Medifast meal, I think that is what may have confused some people here. You most certainly can use 2 eggs as your lean for the day. Many of us were thrilled when Medifast eggs came out and were so good in the recipies, so we didnt have to give up part of our lean for the day!.
You can cook with eggs, who woulda figured that!! lol, enjoy your meal!!..
Thanks EmeraldB and Terie5. I'll try both of your suggestions. Anything will be an improvement for me. I did try one more time this past Sunday. I covered them in the MW and that helped keep in the moisture...of course it says to cover them right on the directions. DUH.

I have never tried Medifast eggs... are they tasty enough to eat alone? Or just to use in recipes??? Just checking before I place my next order and get back on the wagon...

Their response was to use Medifast eggs because of the extra vitamins. THat's the only thing I could see different.
I use egg beaters because it's cheaper and I save a few more carbs. I find that I'm doing fine on my vitamins with all the other stuff and my L&G....so I know it's not Medifast approved, but It doesn't take any skin off my back...or does it...
