I've been on Medifast for 5 weeks now. Last year after 5 weeks I had lost 22 pounds. This year I'm at 16. Has anyone else experienced this slow down?..

Your question was: Do you lose weight slower 2nd time on Medifast?.

I have had the same prob ... have been recording all food and working out, but can't quite figure out what I am doing wrong this time! I am very frustrated by it all! Last time I lost around 3 to 4 pounds a week and this time I have only lost 1/2 pound a week for the last month!!! So frustrated! Any advice for riverrat and I??..

My weight loss seems slower this time, too, but I'm only on day 4 of my restart. I have noticed that this time I haven't had as much stomach discomfort (sorry, diarrhea). So, I'm thinking I just lost more water weight (faster) the first time around. Also, I have less to lose this time, so they say that affects the rate, too...

A big me, too. Lost 30 pounds two years ago, blew it and put it back on. Back again to do it one last time, and it is much slower going this time, even though, if anything, I am being stricter than before. May be age, may be each time I lose and re-gain, my metabolism gets a little more recalcitrant. Still, it's faster and more effective than anything else I've tried... Good reason not to re-gain it again!.

I'm in my final stretch. I lost 30 pounds at a time and maintained. It is slow this time.

BUT,.

I'm a belly dancer now and practice several hours a day. I also follow Jorge Cruise's 8 minutes in the morning.

That was the first exercise I added before (even before walking) as I wanted to make sure I was preserving muscle...

I've definitely noticed a slow down - 7 pounds in 2 weeks, compared to 8 pounds in my first week last time. I mentioned htat to another friend who also said her 2nd time was slower. Not sure why that was the case! Also, my first time on Medifast I didn't have any side effects going into ketosis, whereas this time I felt like garbage for days. Maybe it will pick back up?..

I have lost 2 lbs. in 5.5 weeks. I think my body is resistive to this program, I've been on it so long...

I am so glad someone started this thread because I thought it was just me. I have stuck to this plan more this time than I did the first time and I lost 17lbs in my first 2 weeks but this time around I am not doing well at all. I have lost inches but hardly any pounds...

Anyone have any ideas, why the second time around just doesn't seem to be working for so many of us???..

These are all great questions, however I have to ask for some data points here before I could even begin to guess, and I emphasize guess, why the weight loss would be slower the next time around..

First off, what are you doing differently? Are you eating different foods? Eating at different times? Is your Lean and Green meal different? Are you drinking the required amount of water? How many of the Medifast bars are you eating in a day? Also, have you tried starting an exercise routine? Dont skip any meals, and try and make sure you are getting the proper split of nutrients in a day. Ideally you would be around 50/35/15 for 50% protein, 35% carbs, and 15% fats. If you are unsure, you can use the MyMedifast Plan tab on this web page and build your meal to see what going on nutritional wise..

Something has got to be different. Though the human metabolism does slow down with age, I am assuming you haven't aged so much since the last time you did the plan...

Ok this is just a thought....but the first time you probably especially in the beginning stuck to the plan without all the recipes and such.... maybe tweaking is adding extra carbs here and there??? Just a thought...

Umm, this sounds familiar since I just came from Atkins. Apparently it's a phenomenon called the 'Golden Chance' or something where the first time people go on ketogenic diets, the weight melts off so fast and then if they gain it back and start a ketogenic diet again, the results are much slower. Not sure why, but tons of Atkins people were complaining of this. I'm upset I used my one chance and had to quit b/c I got IBS after only a few weeks - didn't really even get my one chance..

If you're really curious, there is a whole long thread about this on Atkins message boards. I'm not saying I'm right, just that many others have experienced this even if they weren't much older or sticking to plan even better, etc. I'm guessing the body learned how to protect itself the first time and is trying to protect us now - lucky us!..

I keep seeing comments about those new bars - have you tried cutting those out to see what happens?..

I am another one who is not doing very good. First time (many years ago) lost 60 lbs in 3 months which at that time Medifast was only shakes. Four years ago, lost 50 lbs. in 4 months. This time have lost only 10 lbs in 5 weeks. Because this is a 'fasting' diet, could Medifast have really messed up my metabolic rate?..

I will be also be "starting" once again....I hope that I can have success and stick to it longer this time!!..

Nope, been great for me. I just restarted last month. Looks like you are doing great!..
