Got a question... Did anyone try the Medifast advanced? Thanks in advance for any answer. Second question.. Does anyone else find that since they can't have food to feed their addiction your others are coming out full force? I (of course) have my alternates to food which have taken over during my slender times. They are working out, shopping and smoking. I've been trying to quit smoking for years and finally had it to well under a half a pack a day but now I find I'm routinely over half a pack and my shopping demon seems to be rearing his pretty head now.

I know I'm just swapping obsessions (why couldn't it be the exercise obsession this time!). Anyone see this happen and successfully quell the urges? I don't know if my willpower can conquer all of them at once!..

Good question... I dunno what is the answer to your question. I'll do some research in Google and get back to you if I bump into an good answer. You should email the people at Medifast as they probably could give you help..

Oh goodness, I have been on medifast for 2 months and doing very well staying on plan. Decided to quit smoking with chantix. I made it a full week and then binged AND smoked last week. It's hard. People keep advising me to take it one addiction at a time. But, here I am, stayed on plan yesterday and haven't smoked since noon yesterday.

If I do one, I don't know which one it should be. I'm very confused right now. Good luck to you!..

I started Medifast in October, quit smoking in December, but Hello! and Ebay! Tho' I must say, the Ebay thing is mostly for new clothes since I've become the "incredible shrinking woman." (someone actually called me that yesterday!)..

No, but as a former 30-year pack a day smoker, I can certainly feel for you. I used to use the excuse that I wouldn't worry about quitting smoking until I got all my weight off, but that never happened. I really never wanted to quit, but my company started a policy in 2008 that we couldn't smoke ANYWHERE on the property not even in our cars. So, I went on Chantix in 2007 and finally quit the habit. I sure did think about cigarettes for 365 days after I had my last ciggy, but on the 365th day literally it was like a switch clicked off in my brain and I've rarely thought of them. But, I thought about them 24/7 that first 365 days...

Only once since I've been on Medifast have I thought it would be nice to have a cigarette to take off the "edge" of wanting something to eat, but it passed real fast..

I found the same thing the first time around, that I became a shop-a-holic when I was "depriving" myself of food. This time I am working on being balanced in everything, and becoming attuned to a healthy me all body, mind, and finances. I would recommend that instead of trying to "get through it" on sheer willpower, which tends to transfer your addiction to another activity, that you order Dr. A's Habits of Health through Medifast (available in the materials/books section) and begin to work your way through it. I have found it tremendously helpful...

I know what you mean. I saw someone smoking a water vapor cigarette last night. Never seen one before. I smoked for 15 years and quit when I got pregnant. So I am glad that is over with. But the cigarette looked cool..

Kris I wish you the best of luck. It's awesome that you've made it almost 24 hours - woohoo!!! I'll be pulling for you. Maybe I'll just cover myself in nicotine patches like my brother did when he gave up snuff - we could only laugh at him but it totally worked!..
