My next question is: I know that even being on NS there will times we have to.

Make changes to our life style My husband doesnt mind the fact that I dont go out to dinner any more If we see friend I plan on a place that will serve fish or chicken and veggies it is hard but it seems workable. I have a planned cruise 2-9 for 7 days I was thinking I could stay as close as possible to 1200 cal. Does this plan sound workable.

Breakfast.

Fresh fruit.

Serving of ceral ( bran flakes).

Mabe some yougurt.

Snakc fruit or dairy.

Lunch.

Salad and some small amount of turkey or cheese etc.

Dinner.

I could double up on salad.

Any there is always fish and chciken with limited pasta or.

Carbs NO BREAD.

Veggies.

And maybe a sugar free desert Which is always good..

And opf cause no cocktails or wine..

Enjoy your cruise!.

You could bring a few breakfast bars or lunch bars with you. You then add the fruit, skim milk, your salad, veggies etc. You can always get fish for dinner or a small piece of steak broiled. Lots of people have restricted diets these days. They are used to special requests.

Bring along some NS desserts also..

There are plenty of activities to do on board to burn off calories. There should be a gym or they have exercise classes, dance classes, maybe miniature golf, or just walk around the ship a few times. I'm sure you'll see others doing a morning walk around the ship..

Have a great time!.

Most of the cruise lines offer a "Spa" menu - low fat / Sugar Free optionsThese options are listed on the menus in the main dining room. Even their casual / buffet areas have ''healthy'' options - fat free yogurt, egg beaters or egg whites only for omelets, fat free slad dressings, etc. Most cruise lines also will offer off-menu main courses - such as fish or chicken if you ask your waiter..

You sound like you have planned extremely well! With your determination and all the options offered, you should do great!.

Have a marvelous time!!..

I am going on vacation the end of the month, I am thinking of taking my nutrisysytems breakfasts and some lunch bars with me....and do the best I can at dinner time.....

The trick to the cruise will be portion control.....doesnt help they have food everywhere..

Depending on the cruise line you go with, they will generally have a "light" menu item and a vegetarian item on the menu each night.

I generally choose to eat in the dining room as much as possible because then the portions are controlled, say, versus the buffets. Don't be afraid to ask for exactly what you wantthe waitstaff is trained to do everything they can to please you.

Also remember that just because it is all you can eat, it doesn't mean you have to eat all you can. And nobody ever tells you to finish everything you take, so don't feel compelled..

I usually try to take the stairs instead of the elevators as much as possible, and unless I'm in a hurry to get to some planned activity, I take the scenic route and walk walk walk around the ship as much as possible..

On shore, I usually skip the excursions (they are way expensive anyway!) and just wander through the streets..

I tend to wake up early, so I used that time to go up on deck and walk the track, and watch the sunrise..

I heard a cruise director say once that most people gain between 7-10 pounds on a 7 day cruise. I've never had that happen..

Have fun! and good luck!..

I just got back from 5 days in Jamaica (all inclusive) - was not sure what I could take on plane so opted to make smart choices..

I lost 2.5 pounds. What I did was:.

Breakfast - egg white omelet with veggies, and side of fresh fruit.

Lunch - chicken ceaser salad.

Snack of yogurt or cheese and fruit.

Dinner - fish with veggies.

I choose one desert eash evening after I had my coffee (a small portion ofcourse).

I also did have 2 glasses of wine each evening - but I drank water all day at the beach or pool..

Remember to keep up the activity/exersize on the cruise and you will do fine..

Yes, you can make this work! You may not be able to lose weight that week (you may surprise yourself though!) but with as much thought as you are giving it ahead of time, you should be able to maintain at whatever weight you are when you leave. You may gain a little water weight, but it will come off quickly when you get back to NS at home.

My advice is to begin to think now about what appropriate portion sizes look likeI think that's key. Visualize a 3-4 oz piece of meat which should fit into the palm of your hand, for example. Look at the amount of cereal that goes into your bowl in the morning, so you recognize what it should look like on the ship (gets tricky when the sizes of bowls are different).

Have a wonderful trip, and don't let your eating program get in the way of having a great time!..
