Hi everyone, quick 1st question: Can you buy the emergecy contraception pill at local Vitamin Shoppe?.

My 2nd question is: I am not a big salad when I make them myself - altho I love to eat them out....maybe because thats because I pile on all the extras.

Anyhow....what salad dressings have you found that are good and fit into the NS plan?.

Thanks everyone!..

Hi Nancy! I love a good salad... I make my salad every morning for the day's lunch... I buy bagged lettuce and then add cucumber, radish, green pepper, green onion, celery, cauliflower, tomato and a hard boiled egg for my added protein. For my dressing I buy the FF Kraft in every flavor they have and mix it up every day and I also buy the Kraft Light House Italian made w/ Olive Oil (that's my favorite). When I first started NS I added Frank's hot sauce to my salad dressing to help with the "FF" taste plus it gave it a kick (I love hot and spicy anyway). Now-a-days however I've gotten use to the FF dressings and don't even bother with the hot sauce.

Perfect portion control! If you don't like FF then go with light and use that as your "fat" serving for the day... just watch the portions... hope that helps!!!..

It isn't the added vegetables in your salad that make you not 100% NS, it is the croutons, full fat cheese, meats and salad dressings..

If you make a salad with 2 cups of lettuce, mushrooms, onion, shredded carrots, tomato, cucumber, broccoli and some ff salad dressing, you have not gone off plan at all and it is one heck of a salad. For your fat for the day, you can even throw on some olives or nuts or a TBL of parmesan cheese..

For my salad dressing, I have ff raspberry vinaigrette and sf raspberry vinaigrete. I mix the 2 together. Then I needed something to put my salad dressing in so I bought some Tupperware Midgets which have 1 and 2 ounce markings on them so I don't even need a measuring spoon...

I keep 6 to 8 different dressings in the fridge at any given time, just to have a variety. Among my fav's lately are Asian Toasted Sesame and Carmelized Onion & Poppyseed. Both are "light" as opposed to FF...

I use the Kraft Roasted Red Pepper and Parmesan although not marked as FF free it has been stats than any FF I have found and it taste great..

I just tried the balsamic vinigrette spray on dressingit was really pretty good! It's heavy on the vinegar side, but I like that sort of thing..

The FF Kraft Italian was just too gloopy after it was refridgerated. NOT appetizing at all...

I have been using good seasons fat free dressing packets that you mix yourself. It has a nice taste and you can make it with any kind of vinegar that you want...I use balsamic personally and it has a good taste. Today I am trying a spray on dressing from Kens. It's the honey mustard and it really does have a nice tangy honey mustard flavor and with it being 1 calorie per spray it's a good way to track how much you actually have on your salad. I also found that each spray gives a decent amount of dressing...so far so good!..

In the past when I've done NS (as well as now) I will buy Romaine and Green Leaf bundles and chop away and store in rubbermaid container..(cheaper and better for enviroment than bagged salad mixes!!) then I use one of those plastic veggie platters with the compartments that have the cover and put cucumbers, mushrooms ,green peppers and green beans so I can just take both out and grab what I want and stow it back in fridge....this I do every Sun night for week..

I love the Kraft Free Catalina and Ranch dressing mixed 1 Tbs of each .... I also like the Newman's Own Light Raspberry & Walnut (it is sweet for those of you who miss the candied nuts on salad!) YUMMYYY!..

I love all of the salad spritzer dressings and there are hardly any calories in them...

I see people using those spritz dressings. Those have fat in them though so how do you count them? They aren't enough fat for the fat serving...

I don't use enough sprays to have to count the fat. I just like to lightly spray the salad - just enough to add a little flavor. You can spray the whole salad in just a few sprays...

I always use a variety of Kraft FF dressing but I also have used Lite Balsalmic Vinigrette and also the Lite Toasted Sesame Asian Dressing which is one of my favorites. That Roasted Red Pepper and Parmesan sounds delish too that someone mentioned as well as the FF Raspberry Vinigrettes. I will be on the look out for those. And I never thought of the sprays..what a great idea..I'll be looking for those too. Lone Wolf, what brand is that Carmelized Onion and Poppy Seed? I so must try it...it sounds wonderful! I do tend to stick to the FF dressings but do get the Lite versions sometimes for more "ooomph" to the daily eating of salads(big salad lover) so I don't get bored. Someone mentioned that the Kraft FF Italian Dressing gets gloopy...they are so right and it does look unappetizing but I just grin and bear it..don't want to waste the money..lol!..

Wow. Spray on balsamic vinegrette sounds good. The dressing I used was one I made myself that's approx. 1/2 cup balsamic and 1 tbs olive oil with spices. As you may have guessed - I also like heavy vinegar. I don't like many premade dressings with way too much oil..

Keely D'Amour..

If you like Balsamic Vinegarette, I use Maple Grove Fat Free Balsamic Vinegarette..

You can get it at Giant & Shop Rite.

Also - here is the link to their site...

I also like the salad spritzers, especially for work! I've tried both the French Flair (my favorite) and Balsamic. It's surprising how much dressing you get for 10 sprays and 10 calories!..

Yes,giving up the extras can be tough. I've been unwilling to give up shredded carrots on my lunch salad (and sometimes chopped onions or grape tomatoes) so I figure I"ve never had a 100% day in my whole ns life (LOL). Maybe figure out just what little tweak you need to enjoy salads and try giving up the rest of the extras. Some extras are, after all, worse than others.

I buy bagged salad and bagged shredded carrots and make up my salads for the week in plastic containers. Just throw one in the lunch box in the morning with everything else I need (put up a list in my kitchen because I was constantly forgetting something) and head out to work..

I like having individual packets of salad dressing to take to work. I finally settled on marzetti ff packets that I buy at a grocery store. The checkout clerks are constantly trying to get me to save money by buying it in a bottle and I'm constantly explaining I really really want the packets.

There are places online you can buy individual packets, including walden farms. Another good option to try is the spray on dressings (for some reason I just haven't been able to get into those but they make a lot of sense.).

Good luck!..
