My next question is: Hello All!.

I was wondering which cereal everyone eats that fits the NS plan for when they go off NS? I have lost close to 60 pounds and I want to start weaning off NS a little at a time.

I loved Honey Nut Cherrios, Honey Bunches of Oats, and granola cereal. I also loved Fruit Loops and Frosted Flakes, but I feel like those aren't a very healthy choice, sugar wise. I could eat cereal every meal!!! Love it dry no milk!.

Are any of those a good choice?.

What do you use?.

Use this to help go into NS on your own. It is a start..

NS Stats.

If you crunch the numbers, the percentages come out to:.

50-55% carbs, 25-30% protein and 15-20% fat..

From posts of info received directly from NS counselors:.

1 Vegetable Serving =25 calories, 5 g. carbohydrates, 2 g. protein.

1 Fruit Serving = 60 calories , 15 g. carbohydrates.

1 Low-GI Carb Serving = 80 calories, 15 g. carbohydrates, 3 g. protein, trace of fat.

1 Fat Serving = 45 calories, 5 g. fat.

1 Protein (lean) = 55 calories , 7 Grams of protein, 3 grams of fat.

1 Dairy (or Dairy/Protein) Serving = 100 calories, 12 g. carbohydrates, 8 g. protein, a trace of fat.

NOTE: I have also seen 7+ gr protein & no more than 3 gr fat, and the occasional yogurt at 120 cal - for a dairy/protein serving in the E-Classes with Mary Gregg, NS dietitian.

Free Foods = A food that is 20 calories or less... You can add 2-3 free foods to your meal plan.

And if you are preparing your own food here are the average values:.

NS Breakfast Entree averages = 150 cal, 2.75 g fat, 23 g carb, 10 g protein.

NS Lunch Entree averages = 170 cal, 3.25 g fat, 26 g carb, 10 g protein.

NS Dinner Entree averages = 240 cal, 5.25 g fat, 28 g carb, 20 g protein.

NS Dessert Entree averages = 110 cal, 3.25 g fat, 12 g carb, 10 g protein.

...........................NS Entree.

Breakfast:.. about 120 cals = 1 protein & 1 carb.

Lunch:....... about 160-180 cals = 1-2 proteins & 1 carb.

Dinner:....... about 300 cals = 3-4 proteins & 1 carb.

Dessert:..... about 100 cals = 1 dairy & 1 fruit.

I eat Kashi Go Lean. I use now and then when I want cereal even tho I am not on maintenance yet..

I like it a bit better than the special K protein but fFor some reason it does seem to give me a bit of gas...

Cereal tons of options here read lables and adjust serving sizes lots of folks use the Kashi Crunch or GoLean cereals, I'm not that thrilled with the Kashi cereals but find that the low-carb high-protein version of Special K (protein plus) is a very close match to the NS cereals (3/4 cup has 100 calories and 10 g protein)... From the online order form (recent versions may differ) NS Frosted Oats is 120 cal, 6 g protein, 29 g carb (11 sugar) & 2 g fat... NS Crunch is 110 cal, 12 g protein, 25 g carb (13 sugar) & 1 gr fat stay in that general range, and if needed select dairy/protein grocery additions that are higher in protein to compensate for less protein in the cereal...

I know this has nothing to do with cerealbut does anyone know how many ounces of Filet Migon is ok for a dinner? Steak is my fav mealspecially at Lonestar. I usually just get a grilled chickenbut I want to branch out..

I get a 6 oz Victoria Filet at Outback - I save an afternoon protein and eat the whole thing. I get double side of broc and salad with ff dressing on the side. No bread. That should give you an idea...

I just signed onto the boards to ask your exact question cause I have a coupon for buy 1 get 1 free Kashi GoLean. Never tried the GoLean but am gradually going to maintenance and will just be ordering dinners now. BTW, can someone post a link for that web site for comparisons of NS meals to grocery store food? Thanks!..

I like Kashi's cereal that is cinnamon shredded wheat. Very tasty! But I don't know how it fits on NS because I eat it on days I take off NS. I don't think it's too bad though. I finished my latest box and threw out the box so I can't check the nutritional info to post now. I think it's a newer flavor of theirs. Pretty good and very filling!..
