Hi everyone, quick 1st question: Anyone in blackwood, nj know where the cheapest Vitamin Shoppe is to buy Chantix (the quit smoking p?.

My 2nd question is: My husband and I are both on NS. Today he tried the NS sliced ham for the first time and did not like it (the first food NS food he has refused to eat)..

I know there must be posts out there with hints/tips on how to make it more tasty, but I just searched and could not find them. Can someone help me with what they do with the NS sliced ham?.

Thank you,.

Judy..

The ham is one of my favorites but the secret is 1) be sure to rinse off the gelatin and for me 2) cook it in a Pam'd skillet..

I toast a whole wheat bun with some LF string cheese until it's melted and bubbly...then cook the ham until it's browned and sort of carmelized...and slap that baby between the buns and it is positively delish..

I use 45 cal bread and make a grilled string cheese and ham sandwich I just spray the bread with a little ICBINB YUMMERS..

Definitely rinse it off a bit and pay fry it. You can add some LF ham as your protein serving for a bigger serving. Put it on a roll with lettuce, tomato, onion and FF mayo...

Actually I'm going to miss this. I use 120 calorie Pepperidge Farm whole wheat hamburger rolls. Shred the ham onto the bun with 1 slice of ff cheese and 1 slice of tomato. A quick and easy sandwich I can actually enjoy without mayo...

This is exactly how I prepare mine. It's one of my very favorite lunches, and I'm sorry to see the ham slices going away. I'll have to find a good grocery substitute...

Isn't it great that way, I agree, the best. I couldn't be more upset about the ham going away, I usually get 4 or 5 (3 servings a piece)...it's my favorite lunch next to the black bean tortilla soup, which I could eat every single day..

I have one more box of ham and I'm waiting for just the right time to have it...sigh..

Ham becomes Corned Beef and Cabbage.

Posted by: sammar on 09/28/05 at 06:41 AM.

I ordered the NS Sliced Ham and was amazed to find that it looked, smelled and tasted like corned beef. I couldn't think of anything to do with it as ham and it was 3 servings so I treated it like corned beef. Half a head of cabbage, some chicken broth, an onion sliced, about a tbs. of pickling spice and the ham in the slow cooker four 4 or 5 hours. It was delicious and more than enough for 2 people..

====================.

Ideas for the NS Ham Slices.

Posted by: graylady.

(a) have an egg or 1/2 cup egg substitute for the added lunch protein, add veg's (in lieu of salad) and make a western omelet/scramble because you get bread with the ham serving, you can even have toast with it..

(b) juggle your breakfast, lunch and snack times to have only the breakfast protein with fruit in early morning, then midday make the NS scrambled eggs into an omelet with the ham and one serving cheese (lunch protein) and your choice veg's (I like mushrooms, onion & spinach) have with toast, complement with small fruit cup instead of lunch salad (or, my favorite, 12 oz diet tonic with 1/2 cup OJ = diet mimosa) and call it Sunday Brunch..

(c) make an NS Ruben - toast a slice of bread (rye is closest to "proper"), then top with lowfat/nofat Russian or 1000 island dressing, ham svg, warm sauerkraut, Swiss cheese (fat free if you can find it) - broil to melt cheese & heat through..

(d) chop it up and put on salad - have croutons for the bread that goes with the ham OR save the bread for later..

(e) pretend it's corned beef, have with cabbage & mustard AND a small boiled red potato in place of the "roll"..

(f) make ham salad with some fat free dressing or reduced fat mayo (evening fat serving) and 3 cooked egg whites (lunch protein) and some green onions and whatever else you like mashed up in your ham salad spread on 2 slices light bread (or other "roll" equivalent)..

(g) shrug your shoulders and forget calling the NS ham a "Lunch Entree" and call it added protein and do whatever sounds good like, chop a slice into the Beans & Ham soup, or breakfast eggs. You'll need to adjust to have proper number of lunch entrees sooner or later - but then it's likely sometime you'll either skip lunch or have non-NS lunch,..
